Family Business Developments
The Department of Trade and Economic Development (DTED) appointed a Family Business Development Manager in 2008. The Family Business Development Manager works with DTED’s Business Enterprise Centres and Regional Development Boards to design tools to specifically support family business.
The Small Business Development Council was renamed the Business Development Council to reflect its new role in supporting both family and small businesses in South Australia. The Council will also establish a family business sub-committee. Mr Philip Sims, Chair of the South Australian Chapter of Family Business Australia (FBA), was appointed as the new Chair of the Business Development Council.
Two fully accredited courses have been developed for Family Business members - the Certificate IV in Front Line Management for Family Business, and Diploma of Management, (Family Business). These courses have been initially presented through the Productivity Places program and negotiations have commenced with Business SA and the Australian Institute of Management to offer these courses.
